Pongal festival which is celebrated with great pomp in Tamil Nadu state. This festival is the festival of farmers like Lohri, Makar Sakranti, Bihu etc. but it is known as Pongal festival by incorporating local traditions into itself.

Bhogi Pongal

Pongal begins with Bhogi Pongal. On this day, people gather old waste cow dung garbage from the house at one place. Their people are called relatives. After this, a pile of wood dung is burnt and with It is wished that the end of evil is the end of sorrow. God is offered to Indra, thanks are given for favorable conditions for good harvest. On this day That are made dishes and the family puts food together.

Surya Pongal
It seems like Surya Pongal as it is a festival of worship of Sun God. Thank God Surya for good cultivation is given as Surya Pongal. On this day a special type of milk, moong, jaggery and rice Kheer is made and its enjoyment is offered to the Sun God. Women and women worship the Sun God by drawing it.

Mattoo Pongal
In Mattoo Pongal, the bull which is a symbol of God Shankar ji’s vehicle Nandi Maharaj and cow mother is worshiped. The cow is bathed and roasted with vermilion on her forehead and garlands of flowers are offered to her in various dishes. I like this, the horns of the bull maharaj are decorated and oil is put in it. The service of cow and bull shows that it is not really a boon for the farmers. The cow that gives us milk, Also gives labor and fertilizer for farming. Only then cow is given the title of Mother in Hinduism.

Canam Pongal

The last day of Pongal festival is Canam Pongal. On this day there is a special ritual tradition in which turmeric leaves are washed. In this puja many food offerings are sweet rice, sugar cane etc. are used.

Similarly, this four-day festival is celebrated with love, happiness and pious. People fulfill their wishes and ask for blessings from God. They congratulate each other. This Pongal festival of joy and joy is celebrated in this way.
